The New Hampshire Chapter of ASTD Is Looking for Nominations

Dear __________,

If you were reviewing resumes which of the following statements would impress you more?
“Member of ASTD, New Hampshire.”

Or

“As (Vice?) President _________ on the board of ASTD New Hampshire, led the resurgence of the organization by developing and directing …”

The answer is obvious.  This is a chance to put meat on your resume.

In July we will elect members to our board of directors.  The board is comprised of professionals in training and development who desire to contribute to the learning function while enhancing their professional development.  We need a few energetic individuals to step up and help us refine where we’re going and how we plan to get there.

The time obligation usually involves a teleconference once a month replaced by  an in-person meeting once a quarter (food included in most cases) as well as the time it takes to fulfill your role (usually about 5 hours and no more than 10, unless you want to go above and beyond).

Positions that are up for election include:

President Elect will serve with the president for a year to learn the ropes before stepping into the position of president for a two year term.

Vice President of Programming
will be responsible for identifying and arranging speakers and venues for programs.  As we move to focusing more on Special Interest Groups and webinars the focus may shift to coordinating session leaders and locations for the meetings.

Vice President of Administration
handles keeping track of chapter activities, maintaining minutes of board meetings, and monitors the chapter budget, among other things.
Participation on the board is fun and rewarding. Even if you’re new to ASTD-NH, or are not yet a member active participation on our board of directors is a great way to make a positive contribution while building a network of enthusiastic learning professionals.

Please send nominations to me.  We’ll have the slate ready to go by the end of July and conduct elections in the first half of August.  If you have any questions please feel free to call me in the evenings at 603-424-1166.  I’ll look forward to working with you.

Steve Rients, CPLP
President, ASTD-NH
