Opportunities begin with members identifying what they want from the chapter. "If someone can think it, the chapter will certainly try to do it!"

GOALS:
To continually assess member needs and use the information to develop responsive programs that stimulate active participation by as many members as possible.
JOB DESCRIPTION:

President Elect / Secretary

The President Elect / Secretary position will serve as an Executive Board Member. This position will be responsible all short term, day to day issues of the Chapter.

The President Elect / Secretary position will be responsible for the following:

  • Ensure members of the board know & understand their roles & responsibilities
    •Review the job descriptions of the board members annually
  • Recruit committee members for all board members Present the board selection process to the board for approval
  • Communicate to Chapter members the opportunities that are available to them within the Chapter
    •Coordinate the development & implementation of the annual plan
    •Work with the other Executive board members to combine all annual plans into one working plan
    •Update the board on the progress of the annual plan
    •Suggest improvements and/or changes to the annual plan
  • Ensure chapter bylaws are up to date & followed
    •Communicate with National to ensure Chapter bylaws are accurate
    •Ensure the Chapter properly follows the bylaws
    •Update Chapter bylaws as needed
  • Schedule & coordinate monthly board meetings
    •Set up meeting agenda & distribute to board members prior to the meeting
    •Record meeting minutes & distribute to the members of the board
    •Publish meeting minutes to the Chapter
    •Follow up on all action plans as a result of each meeting
  • Communicate with the Regional Representative of ASTD
    •Develop a relationship with the National Area Manager
    •Work with the National Area Manager on Chapter operating procedures
  • Ensure chapter members are informed of board activities
    •Ensure a process is in place to communicate all board activities to the membership
  • Assist other board members as requested
    •Ensure all board members have the assistance they need to carry out their responsibilities
  • Conduct program evaluations on all chapter events
    •Load all program evaluations received from the Programs into a working database
    •Provide the board with on going results of program evaluations
