Letter from the President
Dear ASTD-NH Members,
A new ASTD-NH year is upon us. There have been many changes in the world around us: economically, socially, and politically. As Training and Development professionals we are not only affected by these changes, but we also serve as agents for change. The ASTD-NH Board of Directors has been working diligently to determine what resources you need in these changing times to be effective, and are striving to provide them.
ASTD-NH continues the tradition of offering enlightening and thought provoking monthly programs. We all know how important education is to staying on the cutting edge, so in addition to informative monthly meetings we offer The Train the Trainer Program each spring. The program has experienced continual growth and improvement each year providing new perspective and valuable skills for experienced and novice trainers alike. In fact, The Train the Trainer certificate has become known industry wide as the certificate to obtain.
The ASTD-NH Board not only wants to improve the existing services, but to seek ways to provide new benefits to our membership. Our latest endeavor is our new website. Our new website is not only user friendly and informative, but also one that serves as an interactive, functional resource to our membership. Whether you are looking for a business or consultant in a specific area of training and development, or would like others to find you or your business the improved online membership directory will provide the functionality you seek. In addition to listing monthly programs, courses offered, ASTD-NH Sponsors, and discussions, we will be offering other resources such as a job-posting page, resume-posting page, and presentation slides from past programs. Our site will be linked to local and national resources. We have worked hard to create something of benefit to you. We encourage your feedback for continual improvements.
The direction we are going and the increase in member benefits we seek to provide would not be possible without the volunteers that make it happen. Our leadership team is a strong, action-oriented group consisting of members with varied and highly developed skills. Some have been on the ASTD-NH Board of Directors for several years and others are fairly new to the organization and to the board. This creates an unbeatable combination of new idea and direction with the experience to avoid pitfalls. This has allowed us to develop some exciting new programs that will be available in the very near future.
Again, it’s the volunteers that create a strong organization. I would like to thank all of our volunteers from board members to committees, to those that help out with one-time tasks. Without you, what we are able to accomplish would not be possible.
If you would like to get involved, ASTD-NH has many opportunities for you to use the skills you have or develop new ones. Volunteering for ASTD-NH will undoubtedly help the organization and it will give you the opportunity to for personal and professional growth. We’ll throw in a splash of fun, and I guarantee it’s worth the time you invest!
