About Volunteering

As a nonprofit organization, our volunteers not only make a difference, they make everything we do possible! Whether you are using your expert skills, learning new skills, or simply meeting other professionals in your field, volunteering for ASTD-NH is a great opportunity to be more deeply involved in your chosen profession. Please consider sparing some of your time to help the organization that helps your profession. It's a worthwhile investment!

ASTD-NH Committees - Where The Action Is!

The wealth of offerings our Chapter gives is a direct reflection of the excitement, committement and yes, FUN!, of working on a committee. Take a moment to browse through the news, goals, and activities of our committees. In addition, the volunteer opportunities are outlined. You will find there is a job that will fit into your schedule. Remember, the committees are the engine of all chapter activities!


ASTD-NH Volunteer Opportunities:

Membership Committee

  • Registration: Help register participants at monthly Programs
  • Host/Hostess: Help greet members and guests at monthly Programs
  • Mentors: Help mentor other trainers in our New Mentor program.

Marketing Committee

NHPR program listings: Update the NHPR radio underwriting text each month. (Estimated less than 1 hour per month.)

Marketing Campaigns: Volunteer for one of these specific marketing campaigns, (Estimated 1-3 hours per month)

  • Monthly programs: Help market the monthly programs to membership and the community
  • Web site: Help market the functions and benefits of the new web site to the membership and the community
  • Train-the-Trainer: Help market the Professional Trainer Certificate Program to membership and the community
  • Chapter outreach: Help build partnerships with other professional organizations

Member feedback: Develop and create a method of collecting input and feedback from members and the community, including surveys.

Special Interest Groups: Become a member, or team leader, for one of the informal groups which meet occasionally to discuss topics of common interest:

  • eLearning: Discusses eLearning topics
  • Consultants: Discusses topics of importance to independent consultants, including developing an effective consulting practice.
  • Internal Trainers & Consultants: Discusses topics of importance to internal trainers and consultants, including ways to be more effective in their companies and organizations.

Sponsorship: see Leadership.
Public Relations: see Communications.

Program Committee

Monthly Programs

  • Program selection: Help select the monthly programs
  • Program Host/Hostess: Help conduct the monthly meetings, including set up, announcements and registration
Train-the-Trainer Committee
  • Curriculum: Committee is updating the Professional Trainer Certificate Program ("TrainTheTrainer")
  • Faculty Selection: Help evaluate and select faculty
  • Host/Hostess: Help conduct the TrainTheTrainer programs, including set up, announcements, and registration

Leadership Committee

Audit Committee: This Committee reviews the processes and procedures of the chapter's administrative accounting arm as required annually by ASTD National. What is involved: Two individuals, 4-6 hours over one or two days

Sponsorship Committee:
1) Updating the sponsorship program, defining sponsorship rates and benefits for each rate. What is involved: 1 or 2 meetings, 2-4hours

2) Selling ASTD-NH sponsorships by contacting local businesses and training vendors to sponsor ASTD-NH events. What is involved: This can be a one-time task of calling on businesses, or an ongoing monthly task. As a nonprofit, sponsorship is critical to the vitality of our chapter.

New Ideas Advisory Committee:Brainstorming new ideas for benefits and programs the chapter provides by obtaining and utilizing feedback from chapter members. What is involved: Up to 12 people to meet quarterly for 2-3 hours.

Board of Directors: Strategic Planning, Leadership and hands-on management of ASTD-NH. What is involved: See Board of Directors and Board Responsibilities for more information.
